With a release date of January 18 of next year, Square Enix is continuing to drum up enthusiasm for their live action version of Black Butler.
Black Butler is not only popular in Japan, but also internationally. That’s what helped Square Enix make the decision to create a live action Black Butler movie. Fans of the manga will find it different from the story they know, however, as it takes place in Japan during the year 2020, and Ciel Phantomhive has been replaced by Shiori Phantomhive. The main idea is still essentially the same: she makes a deal with Sebastian to help in her quest and in exchange he gets to eat her soul. In the meantime he’s still one hell of a butler.
In the previous trailer, we were given a look at the actors in action. Now, a new poster shows not only Sebastian wielding his iconic dinner knife, but a whole slew of characters.
Characters on the poster include Yuka as Hanae Wakatsuki, the aunt and caretaker of Shiori.
Mey Rin also makes an appearance, and she’s played by Mizuki Yamamoto.
The serving staff is rounded out by Yu Shirota as Charles Bennet Sato, this versions Charles Phipp.
The live action movies version of the Undertaker is being taken on by fashion star Louis Kurihara.
This version of the poster was be plastered on the walls of cinema theatres all over Japan on November 16.
Black Butler the live-action movie opens in theatres in Japan January 18, 2014.
