During the Dengeki Game Festival 2014 held earlier today, March 16, 2014 at the Bellesalle Akihabara UDX, the cast and staff of the popular anime series Durarara!! took to the stage and announced that the anime will indeed get a second season.
Yes ladies and gents, as the picture tells it, they are indeed coming back to Ikebukuro and fans are more than just excited with this new announcement.
The story will take place half a year after the events of the first season and will be directed by Takahiro Omori (Power Stone, Samurai Flamenco) who also served as episode director for the first season’s very first episode. This second season will be part of Durarara!!’s 10th anniversary celebrations. An announcement video has also been uploaded via youtube to announce season 2 to the rest of the world (video cannot be viewed in some countries).
The first season was aired in January 2014 and experienced much success with characters like Celty, Mikado and Shizuo gaining very solid fan bases. A chocolate mural of Shizuo Heiwajima and Izaya Orihara is also currently on display at Bellesall Akihabara UDX.
Speaking of Durarara!!, a new game has been announced for the series and it will be titled Durarara!! 3way standoff -alley- V. The official website has already been set up and it features the characters which will be part of the game including Shizuo, Izaya, Mikado, Celty, Simon, and more. It will be available for the PlayStation Vita starting July 19, 2014.
