Patlabor teams up with Japan"s National Police Agency for a recruitment drive

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 2 from the classic mecha series, Patlabor, certainly have their hands full in keeping the peace in the fictional near future, but so do the real police officers who risk life and limb in upholding the law.

Now, Japan’s National Police Agency (NPA) is teaming up with the police-based mecha series to recruit more people in becoming police officers in a series of new recruitment posters featuring the live action version of the Type-98 Ingram.

There will be 47 versions of the recruitment posters, each featuring the various shields of the police departments from all 47 prefectures of Japan. The poster featured above is for Tokyo. With the Type-98 Ingram now fighting with the police, criminals are in deep trouble now!


The Patlabor live action series will be divided into seven parts plus a feature-length movie. Part 1 will begin on April 5, 2014, Part 2 is on May 31, 2014, while Part 3 will be on July 12, 2014. Part 4 will be on August 30, 2014, Part 5 will be on October 18, 2014 and Part 6 will be on November 29. Finally, Part 7 will be premiering on January 1, 2015. The feature film written and directed by Mamoru Oshii is scheduled to be released on Spring 2015.
