The announcement was made both by the Square Enix official website as well as the Guiness Book of World Records twitter page.

Formerly known as Dragon Warrior in North America, the original game was released by Enix for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in May 27, 1986 making it the longest running JRPG in the world and older than 1987′s Final Fantasy which was released by then-rival Square.

Now, the award is given to Square Enix who announced to fans via their official website to stay tuned for more and look forward to more Dragon Quest games in the future.
