Love Live! vs. iDOLM@STER fighting game?! Sega and Arc System Works developers are thinking about it

In a recent roundtable interview, 2D video game designers have recently sat down with Dengeki PlayStation magazine and offered their thoughts on the fighting game industry. Sega’s Takahara Terada (Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax) ,Capcom’s Tomoaki Ayano (Ultra Street Fighter IV), Arc System Works’ Toshimichi Mori (BlazBlue) were all present.

The all-star panel all talked about various fighting games topics from Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7 to online match-ups in arcades. They were then asked “What Fighting Game Would You Want to Make?”

Capcom’s Ayano responded that he wanted a game more like Gundam Extreme VS as compared to a side-viewing game like Street Fighter IV. Arc System Works’ Toshimichi Mori however has an answer nobody ever expected – a Love Live! vs. iDOLM@STER fighting game!

Could this mean that the Wheels of Fate are already turning? That may be one fighting game a lot of people might want to play. I already have a fighter of my choice too! It’s mai waifu, Chihaya from The iDOLM@STER!

However, Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax developer  Takahara Terada had a different idea. He said he wanted a Love Live! fighting game, and since Love Live! is a Dengeki title, he said that he is considering to add a few school idols in Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax. Though he also added it would be interesting to add characters from light novels who are not from Dengeki Bunko. This means he may want to add a few Monogatari Heroines, High School DXD heroines (or Issei), or some Haganai heroines in the there, because Sena would be quite the fighting game character.

It really does seem that fighting game developers are huge idol anime fans. The biggest and most infamous of them all is none other than Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada who is well known for his love of his waifu, Iori from iDOLM@STER. He even photobombed her Million Live card! Who knows? Maybe Harada might even beat them all seeing as Bandai Namco already owns The iDOLM@STER franchise, and their subsidiary, Sunrise, produced the Love Live! anime series.

So which idol are you gonna be fighting with if this becomes a reality?
