Japanese web forum, 2chan, is often regarded as one of the craziest places in the magical realm called the internet, and with 2014 already over and done with, the denizens of that infamous Japanese web forum have voted on which anime from last year is the one that they think is the very best.
So which ones did the people over at 2chan like the most? Here are their picks

While Barakamon taking the #1 spot may not be considered an upset, there are several ones found within these annual 2Chan rankings for 2014, beginning with #2 ranked Ping Pong The Animation whose second place finish has certainly shocked many. While the anime is certainly a great watch, popularity-wise, it is not as well known as the others, however, with its surprising finish, it cements its legacy as one of 2014’s best and certainly most underrated.
One of the biggest surprises kicked off the list at #30, and it is none other than Sword Art Online II, which in any other popularity poll would not have any problems taking any spot within the Top 5. However, 2chan ain’t as forgiving and gave one of this year’s most watched anime a low position.
Also considered an upset would be Locodol defeating two other idol anime which are certainly a lot more popular and well known. Yes, Locodol is a fun watch, but like Ping Pong, it’s not as popular as Love Live! and Wake Up Girls!, which it soundly defeated as it took the #7 spot… it even defeated Aldnoah.Zero.
