The 8th Winter Asian Games is being held in Sapporo, Japan next year, and one of Sapporo’s favorite daughters has been appointed as the sporting event’s PR ambassador. That’s right folks, Snow Miku is now an official ambassador for the 2017 Sapporo Winter Asian Games!
In fact, Snow Mikudayo wasted little time promoting the games, as she is seen posing with the games’ official mascot character, Ezomon, who is a Siberian Flying Squirrel, a species found in the island of Hokkaido, where Sapporo is located. Both Snow Miku and Ezomon will be featured in various merchandise for the games.
This year’s theme for Snow Miku is Winter Sports, and the virtual snow diva has talked about being the games’ PR ambassador:
“I’m a PR Ambassador for the 2017 Sapporo Asian Winter Games. In my role, I support the event by promoting the appeal of winter sports in Hokkaido and the region’s charms worldwide.”
Crypton Future Media Inc., the company behind Miku, is based in Sapporo, and has been quite active in the city’s tourism promos, including this year’s annual Sapporo Snow Festival. Meanwhile, the Winter Asian Games is the winter variant of the Asian Games, organized by the Olympic Council of Asia.
