Kazuya Minekura’s Saiyuki manga is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and a newly-launched website has revealed that part of the celebrations include a brand new anime adaptation. This new anime will be adapting the Saiyuki Reload Blast manga series, which comes after the original Saiyuki and Saiyuki Reload manga series.
More details are expected to be announced during the manga’s 20th Anniversary event at the Makuhari Messe from January 7 – 8, where an exhibition and stage event will also be held.
The original manga was originally adapted into an OVA in 1999, before being adapted into a TV anime in 2000. It’s sequel, Saiyuki Reload, had two TV anime adaptations an an OVA, while the Saiyuki Gaiden prequel manga got an OVA in 2011.
