It’s finally September, and as some of this season’s crop of anime are entering their final phases, a new batch is ready to take their places.
For this week’s Charapedia poll, the anime character database has asked 10,000 anime fans to vote for the upcoming Fall 2016 anime that they are most excited to watch. Of the 10,000 voters, 43.7% were male, while 46.3% were female. The poll featured 43 upcoming new titles, but only the Top 20 were revealed, and they are:
20 – Nanbaka
19 – Udon no Kuni no Kin-iro Kemari
18 – Teekyuu!!
17 – Girlish Number
16 – Magic of Stella
15 – Gakuen Handsome
14 – Kiss Him, Not Me
13 – SHOW BY ROCK!! Season 2
12 – Drifters
11 – Magical Girl Raising Project
10 – The Great Passage
9 – Touken Ranbu -Hanamaru-
8 – Ajin: Demi-human Season 2
7 – Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans season 2
6 – March Comes In Like A Lion
5 – Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love Legend Star
4 – Bungou Stray Dogs Season 2
3 – Sound! Euphonium Season 2
2 – Natsume’s Book of Friends Go
1 – Haikyuu!! Karasuno VS Shiratorizawa
There are a lot of anime with female-oriented fanbases coming into this new season, and it ain’t surprising that they filled out four of the Top 5 spots, with Kyoto Animation’s Sound! Euphonium season 2 being the highest ranked male-oriented anime at #3. Of all the female-oriented anime coming into Fall 2016, Haikyuu!! takes the top spot, as this new season promises more fast-paced Volleyball action that the series has been quite known for.
A lot of the anime coming into next season are also sequels, and all the anime in the Top 5 are also sequels, with the highest ranking new anime being March Comes In Like A Lion, which adapts the critically-acclaimed manga. Only three new titles have made it to the Top 10, including March Comes In Like A Lion, Touken Ranbu, and The Great passage, as the rest are all sequels.
