We"re not surprised with #1 as fans vote for the Top 20 anime characters want as a leader

In anime, there are plenty of Team Captains, Generals, Club Presidents, Student Council Presidents, Bosses, Managers, and all sorts of leaders, and some people actually want to be led by them.

For this week’s Charapedia poll, they asked 10,000 anime fans (38.1% male, 61.9% female) to vote for which anime characters do they want as a leader. Of the 43 characters included in the poll, only the Top 20 were revealed, and they are:

20 – Bright Noa (Gundam series)

19 – Koutarou Bokuto (Haikyuu!!)

18 – Mamoru Endou (Inazuma Eleven)

17 – Edward Newgate/ Whitebeard (One Piece)

16 – Tsubasa Oozora (Captain Tsubasa)

15 – Junpei Hyuuga (Kuroko’s Basketball)

14 – Chika Takami (Love Live! Sunshine!!)

13 – Kazuya Miyuki (Ace of Diamond)

12 – Tooru Oikawa (Haikyuu!!)

11 – Yusuke Fujisaki (Sket Dance)

10 – Tezuka Kunimitsu (The Prince of Tennis)

9 – Isao Kondo (Gintama)

8 – Tetsuya Yuuki (Ace of Diamond)

7 – Yukio Kasamatsu (Kuroko’s Basketball)

6 – Levi (Attack on Titan)

5 – Seijuro Akashi (Kuroko’s Basketball)

4 – Gintoki Sakata (Gintama)

3 – Honoka Kousaka (Love Live!)

2 – Daichi Sawamura (Haikyuu!!)

1 – Monkey · D · Luffy (One Piece)

Given One Piece’s popularity right now, is anyone even surprised? He may not look like it, but Luffy is a born leader, and will do everything in his power to protect his friends. He is a captain, and his charisma has inspired many wayward souls to join him.

With majority of the voters in this poll being female (61.9%), a lot of the characters who made it to this list are from series which have strong female fan followings, particularly sports anime like Prince of Tennis, Kuroko’s Basketball, and Haikyuu!!. Nine of the top 10 are also all guys, however, there is a rose among the thorns, as Honoka manages to take third place in the rankings as the only female in the Top 10.
