Experience Okinawa with the first-ever Okinawa Festa in Singapore event

To many, Okinawa is one of Japan’s best vacation spots, with plenty of lush beaches and sites to visit. However, Okinawa also has a unique culture of its own that’s quite different from the rest of Japan, and that culture is on show for the Okinawa Festa in Singapore event, which will be held next Saturday, 15 October 2016, at MILLIAN Singapore.

The event is open to everyone, young and old, male and female, and it is presented by the Okinawa Prefectural Government.

For an afternoon, concert venue and nightclub MILLIAN will be transformed into a mini

Okinawa. Visitors can expect to taste some Okinawan cuisine along with the island’s signature

Orion Beer.

Okinawan ceramics, or ‘Yachimun’, will be on display alongside some of their local

glassware, also known as Ryukyu glass. Also on display will be Okinawan local apparel name

YOKANG, known for their use of traditional dyeing technique and vibrant colours.

OKINAWA FESTA will be graced with performances by home-grown Okinawan acts

RYUKYUDISKO and MONGOL800. The stage will be an interesting mishmash of RYUKYUDISKO’s

fusion of dance and traditional Okinawan music, and MONGOL800’s punk rock sound. Visitors

get the rare chance to catch them in an intimate setting at this one-time only concert.

This will be the first time that this is happening right here in Singapore, so this is one opportunity people should not miss. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/sgokinawa.go/
