Hideo Kojima finally getting that award Konami didn"t allow him to get

2015 was certainly a tumultuous year for one certain Hideo Kojima, filled with incidents regarding his former company, Konami. One of those incidents included Konami not allowing the renowned video game developer to fly to Los Angeles to receive his Industry Icon Award during the The Game Awards 2015. Now, he’s finally getting it!

He will be getting that award during the Game Awards 2016 event on December 1, 2016. Geoff Keighley, host and producer of the Video Game Awards, made the announcement himself. Last year, the award was presented by renowned American voice actor, Mark Hamill, and the award was accepted by actor Keifer Sutherland, who is part of the game’s English voice cast, on Kojima’s behalf.

Also last year, another award for Metal Gear Solid V, which was given in a different awards ceremony, this time during the PlayStation Awards in Tokyo, was also not received by Kojima, but was instead received by a PR representative from Konami. Now that he’s free from the company, Kojima is certainly free to accept all the awards that Konami didn’t allow him to get.
