We finally get a good look at Jotaro Kujo for the live-action Jojo"s Bizarre Adventure movie

After months of teasing, we finally get a good look at actor Yusuke Iseya in costume as the one and only 3rd Jojo, Jotaro Kujo. The official Jojo movie website reveals him wearing his white-colored costume as seen from Part IV of Hirohiko Araki’s popular manga.

The website also revealed Takayuki Yamada in character as Anjurou “Angelo” Katagiri.

Kento Yamazaki was previously revealed in costume as Josuke Higashikata, the 4th Jojo and main character of the movie. The live-action film will be adapting part 4 of the long-running series. The movie will be making its premiere on August 8, 2017.

The film will be directed by Takashi Miike (Crows Zero, Live-action Terraformars) and will be a co-production between Warner Brothers and TOHO. It aims to cover the entire fourth part, which follows the adventures of Jousuke, with Jotaro acting as his mentor. Because Part 4 is actually quite long, TBS producer Takashi Hirano has said that they are looking into making sequels for the film to fit the entire story of part 4.

Filming was done in the Spanish town of Sitges, though they did admit that they already knew that the original manga was set in Japan. They decided to adapt Part 4 because it featured a Japanese protagonist, therefore eliminating the “Racelift” allegations.

Right now, the anime industry has all sorts of idol anime, from school-based ones like Love Live! to local town-based ones like LocoDol, and even political idols who are also Diet representatives like Idol Memories. But with all these idol anime, which female anime idols or groups shine the most?

Japanese anime news website, animeanime.jp, recently asked 883 people to vote for which female idols do they think shine the most. The poll includes both individual idols and idol groups. Here are the Top 10:

10 – * (Asterisk) (The iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls)

9 – WakeUp, Girls! (WakeUp, Girls!)

8 – New Generations (The iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls)

7 – Ranka Lee (Macross Frontier)

2 – Walküre (Macross Delta)

1 – μ’s (Love Live!)

According to animeanime, μ’s won with an overwhelming amount of votes, taking in 30% of the total number of votes, followed by Walküre with 10%. Given Love Live’s popularity these days, it ain’t surprising that they won 1st place.

But with AQOURS failing to even reach the Top 3, it seems like the μ’s own “successors” have a lot to prove. Meanwhile, iDOLM@STER and Macross are still going strong, as both franchises having three entries each within the Top 10.

"Bootleg Enthusiast" apologizes for GunPla Expo Philippines fiasco

For the first time ever, the Philippines held its first GunPla Expo event. However, the event had the country’s GunPla community up in arms as several bootleg enthusiasts invaded the event and proudly showed off their bootleg kits.

The move angered many GunPla enthusiasts around the Philippine islands, and the people behind the stunt faced harsh criticism, so much so that one of them was forced to deactivate his Facebook page. In response, one of the people behind the fiasco came forward and issued his apology. He admitted that the move was indeed wrong and said he only dragged the others along with his idea.

Neil, the man who admitted to be the leader of the group, said the other people in the images should not be blamed because he just dragged them along. He also said it wasn’t his intention to disrespect the event, and the pictures were just for fun as personal memories of the event. He said that he was very excited about the country’s first GunPla Expo, and was even at SM Mall of Asia at around 8:30 am, hours before the event even began. He gave his sincerest apologies to those who viewed his actions as stupid and disrespectful.

So far, Bandai, nor its official Philippine distributor, Bankee, have commented on the issue. They are holding the GunPla Expo from February 25th – March 5th at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium.

Bootleg enthusiasts invade GunPla Expo Philippines, suffers heavy backlash

The Philippines kicked off its very first GunPla Expo last weekend to the enjoyment of the country’s GunPla enthusiasts. Gundam fans from all over the Philippines, even as far away from Manila as Davao and Cagayan de Oro, have converged at the SM Mall of Asia to celebrate GunPla.

However, it wasn’t reallyu as smooth-sailing, as several enthusiasts from a certain bootleg Gundam model company invaded the Bandai event and showed off one of that company’s bootleg kits. Needless to say, the Filipino GunPla fans weren’t amused at all.

The group proudly posted the photos in several Gundam Facebook groups, where they immediately received backlash for the apparent disrespect they had for the company responsible for the popularity of the GunPla hobby. The posters deleted the posts after receiving much backlash though several screenshots of their posts have been posted online, especially on Facebook.

So far, Bandai, nor its official Philippine distributor, Bankee, have commented on the issue. They are holding the GunPla Expo from February 25th – March 5th at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium.

Nintendo sues Mario-themed Go-karting company for Copyright Infringement

Remember when those Go–karters cosplayed as Mario Kart characters while carting? They’re from Akiba Kart and started off a new wave of Mario Kart-inspired Go-karting in Tokyo. Several other companies have spawned, and one of them is called MariCar. However, Nintendo doesn’t seem to be happy with them, especially with MariCar, which they are suing for copyright infringement.

Not only that, Nintendo is also suing them for allegedly violating the country’s Unfair Competition Prevention Act. According to a statement by Nintendo, MariCar’s name causes confusion with Mario Kart itself. They pointed out that “the service provides Nintendo character costumes to renters and uses photos and videos of customers in said outfits as promotion.”

MariCar holds Go-Kart tours around Tokyo, and their prices range from US$53 to $71. Nintendo added that it will continue to take steps to protect the intellectual property it has built over of many years of hard work.

Singapore/Malaysia leaks of Sword Art Online movie may blacklist both countries from receiving anime film releases

Movie leaks ranging from 10 seconds to eight minutes may have caused many Japanese licencors to blacklist both Malaysia and Singapore. This may result to anime movies not being released in either or both countries. ODEX, which distributes the film in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines, has now released a statement regarding this incident.

According to ODEX’s post in their official Facebook page:

We received a notice from Japan that there are SAO movie video leaks ranging from 10 secs to 8 mins; and the source was traced to Singapore & Malaysia’s Fan Screening on 18 Feb 2017.

Regardless of the reason or circumstances surrounding the unauthorised recording of the movie, this incident has serious repercussions on our local anime community.

The irresponsible actions of the minority who carried out the unauthorised recording drew flak from Japanese licensors because this is a serious infringement of copyright, resulting in the very likelihood of Singapore and Malaysia being blacklisted for future anime film release.

While ODEX is doing its utmost to limit the damage suffered, we seek your help to alert the cinema management of any unauthorised photography or videography taking place during the screenings.

We work to bring the latest and popular anime movies to the big screens of Singapore and Malaysia, this will not be possible if there are movie leaks damaging the integrity of our local anime community.

We need your help to stop unauthorised recording in cinemas.

Thank you.

These leaked images had grainy and low quality, however, they are still violating copyright laws and have the Japanese distributors up in arms.

The Facebook post also encourages fans to share it in order to spread awareness. Film piracy is a huge problem in the entire South East Asian region, and hopefully, this incident won’t lead to any more repercussions for anime fans in our region.

[VIDEO] "The Queen of Tsundere" returns to voice Louise for The Familiar of Zero"s final volume ad

The final volume of The Familar of Zero will finally be released four years after its author’s death. To celebrate and promote the final volume, Kadokawa anime has started streaming a new PV for the light novel, with Saitou and one of the “Four Queens of Tsundere”, Louise, returning to narrate the video:

In the ad, Satoshi Hino returns to voice Saitou Hiraga, while the “Queen of Tsundere” herself, Rie “TsundeRie” Kugimiya, returns to voice Louise. Both characters are inviting readers to purchase the final volume of the late Noboru Yamaguchi’s popular fantasy light novel series.

They revealed that the final volume will be released on February 24th. They also revealed that the novel series’ illustrator, Eiji Usatsuka, will be releasing an art book titled “Finale Zero no Tsukaima Complete Illustration Collection Usatsuka Eiji Artworks”. It will be released on March 25, and boasts 300 pages featuring over 500 illustrations.

The series remained unfinished after its author passed away, as only 20 of its planned 22 volumes have been finished. However, due to insistent public demand, MF Bunko, which publishes the series, has announced that they will be releasing the new volume.

The author writing the new volume has still not been revealed, however, the works of this new author will be based on the manuscripts and plot left behind by Yamaguchi before he died. The new volume is scheduled for release on February 25, 2016.

Yamaguchi passed away before he finished the Familiar of Zero series in 2013, and has left behind some manuscripts for the next volume as he was planning to finish it before he passed away. The last volume, volume 20, was released in 2011.
