Japan recently celebrated the Setsubun Festival last February 3. Every Setsubun, the Japanese throw soy beans at oni to banish evil and bring in good luck for the new year. Recently, Japanese anime news website, Anime Anime, conducted a poll and asked 950 people which anime oni do they want to spend Setsubun with. Here are the Top 10 results:
10 – Ogremon (Digimon)
9 – Gyuki (Nura: Rise of the Youkai Clan)
8 – Ram (Re:Zero)
7 – Chikage Kazama (Hakuoki)
6 – Meisuke Nueno (Hell Teacher Nube)
5 – Ririchiyo Shirakiin (Inu x Boku SS)
4 – Oni kids trio (Ojarumaru)
3 – Lum Invader (Urusei Yatsura)
2 – Rem (Re:Zero)
1 – Hoozuki (Hoozuki no Reitetsu)
Rem may have been 2016’s most popular character, but Hoozuki proved that he’s still one very popular oni himself, as he beats out the fan-favorite in this battle of Onis. But hey, Ram got into the Top 10!
