Life-size Unicorn Gundam to replace life-size RX-78-2 Gundam in Odaiba, Gundam theme park also gets replaced

Yesterday, March 5, was the last day that fans got to see the 18-meter life-size statue of the RX-78-2 Gundam in from of Diver City Tokyo in Odaiba. But fret not folks, because it’s getting a replacement, and it’s even bigger than the RX-78-2! The Mobile Suit they chose to replace the iconic “grandpa” Gundam is certainly huge, and it’s the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam. Here is the concept image:

According to Bandai, they will be erecting the life-size Unicorn Gundam sometime in Fall 2017. It will be placed where the RX-78-2 used to be in.

Now, Diver City Tokyo is also the home of Gundam Front Tokyo, a Gundam theme park which features the history of the Gundam franchise itself. It features a life-size bust of the Strike Freedom Gundam, as well as several dioramas abnd statues. However, it’s getting replaced too! It will be closing shop on April 5, and its replacement is called “The Gundam Base Tokyo complex”. This new complex will also be on the seventh floor of Diver City Tokyo, and will be considered Japan’s largest Gundam model center. It will sell over 2,000 varieties of GunPla, including some classics from the 1980’s.

This new revamp is all part of the Tokyo Gundam Project 2017, which also comes with this logo:
